An inconvenient truth

This is my review about an in convenient truth documentary film which is directed by Davis Guggenheim.

This documentary talks about the danger in the changing of the climate, also shows how to protect against possible future problems and to find some solutions by taking some serious actions. Former vice president Al Gore presents a presentation about the global warming with charts and graphs. The charts show the quick increase in the world temperature and the increases in greenhouse gases. The graphs also show that in the last 1000 years the temperature rises the same as the CO2 which means we have to reduce the use of it because when there is more Carbon Dioxide the temperature will increase more. Al Gore gives examples of some places that 30 years ago were colder and now the ice on those places begin to melt. He also mentions that some countries will face serious problems because both northern and southern poles began to melt which will make the sea level to rise. In conclusion Al Gore said that everyone is responsible for his actions and everyone can solve this problem by reducing the use of CO2 and some other sources.

Purpose of the blog

The purpose of this blog is to talk about the global warming and to be aware of the climate crisis that we might be facing in the future. I am writing this project to give my opinion about the global warming and to share some ideas about it with my friends. This project contains many things I first started with the review of an inconvenient truth documentary which Al Gore explained about the climate crisis. Then, I will explain the definition of the global warming and I will describe some evidence for it. I will also write about some of the specific effects of the global warming and the causes of it. I will also upload a power point presentation to the blog which shows some pictures about the global warming include some other things that I will think about it later.

Definition of the global warming and some evidence

The global warming is defined as an increase in the temperature which is caused by the increase of the greenhouse gases as a result of the pollution. The climate begin to change incredibly and we misunderstanding the system of the world’s climate. However, scientists now find an evidence that shows the global warming occurring. The evidence comes from the measurement of the increasing in the air temperatures and ocean temperatures such as the increase in the global sea levels. It changes the physical and biological systems. This warming has already changed the world’s climate. Some other evidences of the global warming are the carbon dioxide increasing in the atmosphere, Methane also increasing, Melting Arctic sea ice and oceans warming. Some scientists think that the Katrina hurricane and tsunami are evidence of the global warming.

Causes of global warming

Most scientists think that human activities are contributing to global warming by using the CO2 which add the greenhouse to the atmosphere. Also the use of fossil fuels, driving cars and using electricity from coal are contributed to the increase of the greenhouse. The Carbon dioxide and other air pollution that is in the atmosphere trapping the sun’s heat and causes the earth to warm up.

Specific effects of global warming

There are many effects of the global warming which effects on life on earth. One of the examples is the health effects like the increasing of heat waves which could result in deaths also the global warming is expected to increase the range of diseases. It will also effect on some cities which is located near coastal areas because the sea level will rise which may result in flooding. Another effect is on the house prices which are located on coastal areas or Small Island that will cause the price of the houses in these areas to reduce. However, there are also some good effects like if the north polar melts there will be shorter routes between Europe and North America.

Possible solutions in the UAE

There are many things we can do in the UAE to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions like we have to buy fresh food instead of frozen food because frozen food uses 10 times more energy to produce. We have to use compact fluorescent light bulb instead of regular bulb because it produces 60% less energy than the regular ones so we can save about 300 pounds of carbon dioxide per year. Turn off electronic devices when you’re not using them this will save thousands of pounds of carbon dioxide per year. Reduce the using of cars or the number of miles you drive by walking for example if we reduce 10 miles of driving per week, it will eliminate 500 carbon dioxide emissions per year. So, there a lot of things we can do in the UAE.
